I AM NOT A GEEK.

Over the years, I have continually had to fight off and correct the notion that people have of me being a geek. People often say that self discovery's a bitch. But I've discovered that as it often is the case, the impression people have of us or the one we want people to have of us, is one of the determinants of who we discover ourselves to be.

I consider myself as a person who has the ability to recognize art.. Maybe I'm not good enough to become any form of artist. Ya, maybe I'm a by-product of art- I can't sing, I can't dance, I'm only just good on the snare drums, I can't act or make beats or any of all that shit. But I think I can recognize good stuff. And I'm really just cool with that. For this reason, I thought the world acclaimed and Oscar winning "Godfather" was a joke relative to Fools Die by the same author. Yeah, Godfather had all the suspense and action and a rad plot but #kanyeshrug. Its just and never can be compared to Fools Die or a critical art level.

The fact that I like deep opinionated art certainly shouldn't make me seem like a geek. The fact that I wear glasses on the other hand happens to. And its more baffling to me than anything. Why don’t people just understand that people who wear glasses are not essentially intelligent. They are just damn visually impaired. In my case and I'm sure in so many other cases, the visual impairment is hereditary. I don't wear glasses because I'm smart, I wear them coz I can't fucking see! Duh!  There are as many dumb people who wear glasses as there are smart ones. While I don't know how many A-students in my class, I'm sure majority of them do not damn wear glasses. Please, don't think I'm a geek because I wear glasses.

 I got my own desktop computer when I was in JS2. Yes, I know I got it off my dad by getting rad results but hey….. I got the PC and loaded it with all sorts of music, movies and more games.

I had games for morning time, afternoon, evening and night times. FYI, I played USM 98…that means Ultimate Soccer Manager 98!! 1998!

Then I had CM4, and all these other random games. I had FIFA 99, 2000, 2002 and 2004 on that desktop at one time or the other.

All I'm trying to say is that I play games just like everybody else. I currently have the FIFA 2011 demo. I'm sure there aren't many CU boys that have the game yet. I still have FIFA 07, FIFA 10 and FMs 07, 08 and 10 on my laptop. I played various GTA games. I'm an ardent soccer gamer - just like the average guy. I'm not a fucking Geek. I've spent over 17 days on the clock of my current FM 10 game. I don't spend my time reading and all that…I'm not a geek.

Finally, I love my footie. I watch football, argue football, play football and play football games. I'm enough of an outdoor guy. I'm not a geek. I check babes out, I hang out in Café at night, stab classes & even chapel. I dub assignments, fail tests….I go through everything every other random student goes through.

I'm thankful and proud of my good grades….but hell no, I'm a well adjusted regular who is blessed and privileged. I'm certainly not a geek.
